This is the page devoted to the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix. It's a wonderful place for any biologist to visit. Somebody was good enough to set thousands of plants to give the birds something to sit on. In truth, the habitat has been made to be so (artificially) rich and diverse that it supports a fabulous bird community. It is easily one of my favorite birding spots in Arizona. Sometimes I even look at the plants a little, too.
04/13/06: Got there at 8:00opening and stayed for three hours until it a) got too hot and b) got filled with grade school groups on tours. I wish I had had that kind of opportunity when I was that age. But it is odd to be waist-deep in small bodies.
