Badger Springs Wash

Badger Springs Wash is a small, but permanent creek that originates at springs and flows southward into the Aqua Fria River. It is included in the recently formed Aqua Fria National Monument which has neither government staff nor any monuments. It  exists at approximately 3400' elevation and is easily accessible from I-17 on exit 256. Of course, the water makes it special and there are Cottonwood trees to break the Mesquite. It also provides an easy hike down to the Aqua Fria River. Kris and Dennis made this hike in 2005 with John and Karen, Dennis's son and daughter-in-law.

The area looks like this:

Badger Springs: 04/12/06: Neat day! I spent 3 hours here today on my way to Phoenix to help John with a complicated plumbing problem. It was the late morning and got rather warm but was fun. So here we go:

Yep, it's a bird. Actually, it's a grey bird. If anyone knows what it is, email me.

This one gets the same note as the one on the left. But these  are good pics. so her they are.

This is my all-time favorite bird - a Black Phoebe. Makes no noise, minds it business and looks great.

After many tries I caught this same Black Phoebe in flight.

Here we go again - it's a Vireo, OK? Don't know which one.

The Palo Verde tress were all buzzing with these bees.

I try so hard to get a bird in the air: at least a Turkey Vulture flies very slowly.

It's Spring and all the world in the desert is flowers. These and everywhere in the flats.
